In the United States the Law of the Land is the U.S. Constitution. The Originalist viewpoint of the document is one that holds to its meaning at the time it was created. Over time, however, the original intent has been hijacked, twisted, and subverted by statist politicians, judges using case law as the basis for Constitutional Law, a progressive education system, and a media that is complicit in a real effort to render the Constitution meaningless in its original form. In a unique style of defense of originalism, Douglas V. Gibbs examines the myths that have emerged as a result of a leftist onslaught against this nation as it was founded, maintaining that the text of the Constitution should be adhered to in its original intent. The enforcers, and final arbiters, of the Constitution, however, is not the Supreme Court, but We The People.
The author addresses the most common myths in a clear and instructive manner, while recognizing and responding to any possible objections.
Does all federal law trump all State law? Are the three branches of government supposed to be co-equal? Can the courts legislate from the bench? How about executive orders? What was the true intent behind the Commerce Clause, and the General Welfare Clause? Is the separation of church and state in the Constitution? Where do our rights come from? Is the United States a democracy? What is the role of government regarding issues like social justice? What is the true definition of Natural Born Citizen? Is the Constitution a living document? What are implied powers, and are they constitutional? Does the President have to ask Congress before he can wage war? What would the founders think about Income Tax, and the Internal Revenue Service? Are the courts authorized to interpret the Constitution in the way they do?
25 Myths of the United States Constitution is an important contribution to literature on originalism, and the perfect book for the average person to read to begin their journey in learning the Constitution.
After reading this book, you will look at the Law of the Land, and the world of politics, with a renewed sense of confidence. Being informed, after all, is a large part of the duty we have as Americans in regards to our involvement as an effective electorate. And, being informed makes you less likely to be fooled by the crafty politicians
The Constitution is only ink and paper if we don't defend it.

25 Myths of the United States Constitution edition by Douglas Gibbs Politics Social Sciences eBooks Reviews
great
In a world where myth often replaces truth I was still a little skeptical that there could actually be 25 myths that folks, including myself, have come to accept as truth concerning the United States Constitution. But after reading the book I had to agree that this author has hit the nail on the head with the title of this book.
I intend to buy more copies and put them in the hands of my friends.
An easy to follow book, written in a way that anyone can understand.
Have you ever wondered if all Executive Orders are Constitutional? Have you ever questioned the commonly held belief that all illegal immigrant babies born on U.S soil are automatically American citizens? Does the Supreme Court ever overstep its authority?
If you want well researched answers, then you have just got to read this book!
Order a copy for yourself and another two or three to share with friends and family as gifts.
In today's highly politicized American culture, Washington D.C. seems to control every aspect of our lives. "Political correctness" now controls how citizen's think, what they say and how they behave.
Now comes an informative, easy reading book that informs citizens of 25 modern day myths that Americans actually believe are found in the U.S. Constitution.
If you too, have been struggling to understand the limits of power emanating from White House Executive Orders and the Supreme Court against the backdrop of a Congress unwilling to exert it's Constitutional power, then give this book a read.
This book made me wonder .. "Is federal power over American personal lives just a well-publicized myth"?
We on the Right pride ourselves on being the REAL "reality-based community" - that's because we are. We have the objective facts on our side about policies that work versus policies that do not. From economic policy (free-market capitalism) to foreign policy (peace through strength) to social policy (America's Judeo-Christian heritage and tradition), conservatism is an eminently practical ideology - or, ironically, what Barack Obama unwittingly was describing when he advocated "doing what works".
But what even most conservatives may not be aware of is that modern conservatism did not originate with Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan's 1964 "A Time For Choosing" speech. This was the resurrection of a much older philosophy codified for us in a document you might have heard of The United States Constitution. The Founding Fathers authored a national "owner's manual" based upon "what works," on constraining precisely the potential sources of tyranny in even the freest society, designed to stand the test of time. Which is why Liberalism has been eroding and circumventing and subverting it for the past century.
This is where "25 Myths of the United States Constitution" rides to the rescue. If the United States Constitution is the nation's "owner's manual," "25 Myths" is its repair manual. In its pages, you will learn - or be reminded - not just how the founding document has been twisted and eviscerated and re-defined, but the original meaning and intent with which the Founders composed it. And we learn that it is all of us, not just a nine-headed robed Knights Templar, whose responsibility it is to preserve, protect, and defend the United States Constitution.
"25 Myths" is not a transitory page-turner, nor is it meant to be. It is a timeless reference for a fallen Republic, and a how-to guide for its phoenix-like rebirth.
One of the best books i have read on this subject. I highly recommend this book.
